A customer posting group decides which receivable account a customer's invoices post to. For example, you might keep local customers, export customers and staff on different receivable accounts.

Customer posting groups are only used when your company takes its accounts from posting groups. Not sure which your company uses? See how invoices get their accounts.

Steps

  1. Open Settings › Posting Settings › Customer Posting Groups

In the menu on the left, select Settings, then Posting Settings, then Customer Posting Groups. The list shows each group's Posting Code, Description, Receivable Account, Service Charge Account, Interest Account and Status.

    1. Customer Posting Groups in the Posting Settings menu.
    2. New Customer Posting Group adds a group.
    3. Receivable Account. A dash means the group has no receivable account yet.
    4. The actions menu (···): edit, activate or deactivate, and delete a group.
  2. Fill in the new group

Select New Customer Posting Group and fill in the panel on the right:

    • Posting Code: a short code in capitals, for example LOCAL, EXPORT or STAFF. Required. Use only capital letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, up to 20 characters.
    • Description: optional, up to 100 characters.
    • Receivable Account: the account these customers' invoices are owed on. Required.
    • Service Charge Account and Interest Account: optional. WbizManager keeps them for later; nothing posts to them yet.
    • Active: leave it ticked so the group can be chosen.

Select Create Posting Group. You'll see Customer posting group created successfully.
