Goals cascade in three levels: organisational (company-wide), department (each linked to an organisational goal) and individual (each linked to a department goal). Start at the top: a department goal can't be saved without an organisational goal to link to.

Steps

  1. Open HR › Performance › Goals & KPIs

In the menu on the left, select HR, then Performance, then Goals & KPIs.

    1. Create Goal opens a menu: Organizational Goal (company-wide), Department Goal (team-level) or Individual Goal (personal).
    2. Counters: total goals per level, and how many are active, completed or draft, with the average progress.
    3. Goals lists every goal; the KPI Templates tab shows the KPI templates.
    4. Each goal shows its level, status, progress and dates. Select it to open it; the ⋮ menu edits or deletes it.
  2. Fill in the goal

Select Create Goal, then Organizational Goal.

    1. Goal Code: a unique code, for example "ORG-2027-001". Required.
    2. Status: Draft, Active, On Track, At Risk, Completed or Cancelled. New goals start as Draft.
    3. Title. Required.
    4. Description: the goal and the expected outcome. Required.
    5. Start Date and End Date. Both required; the end must be after the start.
  3. Choose the owner and how it's measured, then create it

    1. Goal Owner: the person accountable. Required.
    2. Target Value: the number to reach. Must be more than 0.
    3. Weight (%): how much this goal matters, 1 to 100.
    4. Unit of Measure: Percentage, Currency, Number, Rating, Time or Others. Required.
    5. Extra detail for the unit you picked (here Percentage Context; for Currency you pick the currency, for Rating the scale, for Time the time unit).

Select Create Goal at the bottom of the form. Show Guide at the top explains each field.

  4. Track progress

Open the goal from the list.

    • Edit Goal changes the status and the Current Value. Progress is the current value divided by the target.
    • Key results break the goal into smaller milestones, each with a title, target date and target value. Select Update progress on a key result to record a new percentage, or complete it.
    • Link KPI connects a KPI line in an appraisal template to the goal, so the appraisal and the goal can be read together.
