A department goal says what one department will do towards a company-wide goal. For example, the organisational goal "Grow revenue by 20%" could become the Finance goal "Cut month-end close to 5 days".

Steps

  1. Start a department goal

In the menu on the left, select HR, then Performance, then Goals & KPIs. Select Create Goal, then Department Goal.

Fill in Basic Information as for an organisational goal: Goal Code (for example "DEP-2027-001"), Status, Title and Description. All are required.

  2. Choose the department and the organisational goal

    1. Department. Required.
    2. Linked Organizational Goal: the company goal this supports. Required. If the list is empty, create the organisational goal first.
    3. Start Date and End Date. Both required; the end must be after the start.
    4. Goal Owner: usually the head of department. Required.
  3. Set the target and create it

Under Metrics & Measurement, enter the Target Value (more than 0), the Weight (%) (1 to 100) and the Unit of Measure. Select Create Goal.

Track it the same way as an organisational goal: open it, use Edit Goal for the status and current value, and add key results.
